How we hardened TheStandingMountain.com with a zero-downtime Cloudflare rollout.
The Standing Mountain coaching collective needed a more resilient, secure way to serve their growing community—without rebuilding their existing website or changing hosts. DLCloud stepped in to configure and roll out Cloudflare in front of their current stack, adding security and performance in a single afternoon.

Note: For this engagement, we did not move TheStandingMountain.com to DLCloud hosting. Our scope was exclusively to design and implement a Cloudflare layer in front of their existing provider.
The Challenge
01. A growing brand on an exposed stack
As The Standing Mountain grew, their website became the primary way new coaches and community partners discovered the brand. But their legacy setup meant:
- No global CDN layer—every visitor hit the origin server directly.
- Basic SSL and security rules managed only at the hosting level.
- DNS controlled by the same provider that hosted the site, making changes risky.
They wanted more resilience and security without replatforming, re-theming, or learning a complex new stack.
Our Approach
02. Cloudflare in front of the current host
DLCloud designed a Cloudflare-first architecture that wrapped their existing site in a modern protection and performance layer. No code changes. No hosting migration. Just a carefully planned DNS and security rollout.
- 01 Discovery & mapping. We audited theStandingMountain.com, documented all DNS records, and confirmed how email, subdomains, and third-party services were wired in.
- 02 Cloudflare zone setup. We created a dedicated Cloudflare zone, recreated DNS records, and configured sensible defaults for SSL/TLS, caching, and page rules.
- 03 Security hardening. We enabled Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules, bot protection, and DDoS safeguards to protect the site without blocking legitimate traffic.
- 04 Zero-downtime DNS cutover. Once everything was validated in Cloudflare, we updated the domain's nameservers and monitored propagation, watching for any errors or regressions.
- 05 Post-cutover tuning. After traffic was flowing through Cloudflare, we tuned caching and page rules to balance performance with the needs of their coaching and community content.
The Outcome
03. A safer, smoother experience for visitors
With Cloudflare sitting in front of their existing host, The Standing Mountain gained an immediate uplift in reliability and protection without changing the tools they already knew.
- Visitors now connect over modern HTTPS handled at the edge—no extra SSL work needed on the origin.
- Cloudflare's global network reduces direct strain on the origin server and helps absorb traffic spikes.
- Smart WAF rules and DDoS protection reduce exposure to common web attacks and malicious bots.
- DNS is now managed in a dedicated, vendor-agnostic layer, making future hosting changes safer.
Most importantly, the shift was invisible to their community: no broken links, no URL changes, and no new platform to learn.
